Jewel Yams
J
ewel Yams are high in vitamin C, dietary fiber, vitamin B6, potassium, and manganese, while being low in saturated fat and sodium, making them a healthful yet tasty addition to recipes. Yams have an earthy, deep taste that nicely complements darker meats such as venison (or the dark meat of a turkey!). Try puréed cooked yams with a little milk and season with tamari, coriander, cumin and cayenne. Add chunks of yams to your next stir fry or pan of roasted vegetables. Yams, fennel, onions, and mushrooms are a delicious combination. Any way you prepare them, yams are sure to please!
Jewel Yams should be stored in a cool, dark and well-ventilated place where they will keep fresh for up to ten days. They should be stored loose and not kept in a plastic bag.
